This is an inspiring Ted Talk by Nigerian novelist, Chimamanda Adichie about the danger of a single story. She says that, "The single story creates sterotypes, and that the problem with sterotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story." A single story emphasizes how people from different regions are different, rather than how we are similar. If we have a balance of stories of people from different regions, rather than focusing on a single story or sterotype, stories can be used to empower and to humanize. She also speaks about the challenges in Nigeria, and throughout the talk mentions several stories of people from her home, and the challenges that Africa faces as a whole. At the end she speaks of the "incredible resiliency of people who thrive despite the government rather than because of it" in Africa.
This is a great New York Times article about Ms. Gomez-Pizzo, the wardrobe supervisor of the lead female roles at the Metropolitan Opera. All of the backstage gossip, drama, and chocolate this woman must have seen in six seasons at the Met!

Bringing together the Russian National Orchestra and the London Philharmonic as they share musical ideas in a wonderful collaboration. Awesome quote- "And I think one of the hidden agendas of this festival, is to show the world that where politicians fail to find a common language, when it is concerning our common future in Europe and the world, musicians could set a very positive example, and politicians could actually learn from us."
